I could probably write a whole book about the story behind Prickly Pear Coffee Co. (and honestly, I hope to one day). But for now, here's the short version.

I started Prickly Pear when I was just 18 years old with a folding table, a trailer, and a whole lot of faith. What I thought would simply be the first step toward opening a coffee shop became something so much bigger than I could have imagined. Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of spending the most formative years of my twenties building this business, learning to lead, making plenty of mistakes, celebrating incredible victories, and watching God remain faithful through every season.

I've always believed that my generation needs Jesus. I also believe that Jesus meets people exactly where they are. If so many people gather in coffee shops every day, why wouldn't He meet people there, too?

That belief became the foundation of Prickly Pear Coffee Co.

One of the verses that has shaped our mission from the very beginning is Matthew 28:16–20, often called The Great Commission. In these final words before His ascension, Jesus commands His followers to "go and make disciples of all nations." We believe that calling doesn't just happen overseas or from a church stage—it happens in everyday places, too. Around conference tables. Across café counters. In conversations over a cup of coffee.

That's what I mean when I say coffee ministry.

For us, it's not about having a gospel conversation with every person who orders a latte. It's about serving with excellence, loving people well, creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed and seen, and trusting that God can use ordinary moments to do extraordinary things.

Today, what started with a folding table has grown into multiple coffee shops, coffee campers, and a team that gets to serve thousands of people across Nashville. We source exceptional coffee from a small family farm in Guatemala, roast it locally in Tennessee, and strive to make every interaction reflect the love of Christ.

Looking back, I could have never written this story myself. Every open door has been a reminder of God's faithfulness, and every customer who chooses to support us has become part of our story.
